15/9 NSUD and Ugly Ducks

I think all Deuces Wild that are plain ( no bonus or loose etc) should
be called deuces wild with their given paytable describing data.

There are two problems with this. First, giving the complete "paytable describing data" is cumbersome, e.g. saying "1-2-3-4-4-11-15-25-200-800 DW". Second, "plain" (i.e. single, non-bonus, non-deluxe) DW comes in two distinct paytable variations: 1-2-2-3-5 and 1-2-3-4-4. Having a name for each of these base paytable variations enables you to quickly identify a specific paytable variation by saying something like "15/10 NSU" (a game for which we currently have no label).

Original FPDW could carry the modifier as FPDW, the 16/10 type could
carry the NSUD modifier, and likewise the Illinois deuces could carry
that modifier, but still with the paytaable idientifier. As far as I
am concerned there is only one NSUD, one FPDW, one Illinois deuces etc.

The problem with this is that you have to come up with a new label for *every* variation that comes around, like APDW, when we could easily have just called it "15/11 NSU". I'm fine with having unique names for paytables, if we really need them, but having a group name relieves the need to always do this when new variants come around, or if you want to discuss something like "15/10 NSU" without having to say "1-2-3-4-4-10-15-25-200-800 DW".

If you look through the vpFREE paytables, each group uses the same name as its full-pay variant. That's why "NSU" seems to make sense here as well.

So I have to agree with others that there is only one version of
NSU (16/10), and only one UD (15/9). However, this does not
preclude using NSU as a group name as well, or UD for that matter.

FWIW, John, you and I are almost entirely on the same wavelength. I
have no problem with the current paytable classifications used in the
vpFREE paytable listing.

The only exception I draw is the broad use of "NSU" to describe the
1-2-3-4-4 generic paytable. All versions aren't "not so ugly". It's
an inappropriate broad descriptor.

vpFAE has adopted "DW44". It's a good alternative (even if it does
ring of "Colt 45" ;). There may be a better descriptor.
