Well, I've apologized twice privately for that and will do so now publicly.
I frankly quoted a joke I've known since the forties and I haven't ever used
that word outside of that one line. I frankly had no idea that was a racial
slur (It is mentioned in the dictionary as 'often' derogatory) and I won't use
it again.
How about closing the subject now?
