Re: the IRS,
Off subject, but I believe that most taxpayers have no clue about the way the government wastes our money to pay off special interests to keep their unworthy behinds in power as life-long career politicians.
You remember the commercial with that nut who used to run around Washington in the Uncle Sam suit informing the public of all of the freebies the governments was giving away just for applying?
Now that Tradeau (sp?) is doing the same thing: He said that you can get all of this "free" money. It did not make me want to buy his book. It DID make me realize how close we must be to total economic collapse from such corrupt waste and skullduggery to go on while we are printing trillions to pay our national bills.
Do these fools in Washington have a lick of common sense?
We should have our collective heads examined for allowing our nation to be plundered in such an open and obvious fashion.

The discussion was about keeping session logs, which the IRS requires
regardless of how you feel about it. If your goal is to do as little work as
possible unless you're audited, and then live with the shit hitting the fan,
then so be it.

I am not sure what Cogno's comment is about. The poster's comment is
perfectly reasonable and seems based on how the IRS actually processes
real tax returns.
The reality is 99% of the gamblers report their W-2Gs and then their
offsetting losses on schedule A. Perhaps 1% report session wins and
then have a discussion with the IRS. Only if you live in a state that
does not allow offsetting losses and the reporting methods produced
substantial differences would this conversation with IRS be worth my
time.
