         Does anyone know what purpose the $10,000 bill served?*

         Incidentally, Salmon Chase is on the bill.

I thought that I had read many, many years ago that, before electronic transfers, these
were used for "moving" money between certain banks. They were never "in circulation".

But, then, my memory is not what it used to be and this answer might be "all wet".
